When Talking About Climate, Focus on Shared Values

Dr. Katharine Hayhoe often says the most important thing we can do about climate change is to talk about it – with everyone. Family, friends, cab drivers, clubs, suppliers, supervisors, employees — everyone you meet.

This is an interview in the Harvard Business Review where she talks about how to talk about climate – focus on shared values and what’s important to both of you. Then talk about positive and practical things that can be done. This can be for an employer trying to get their employees to do more, or for an employee trying to get their company to do more. Fear and condemnation don’t help, but focusing on positive solutions that already exist do help.

It’s a great interview and really helpful.
