Medical Organizations Issue Call to Climate Action

On June 24, over 75 medical and health organizations issued a call for climate action and said equity must be central to climate action. The statement was signed by organizations such as the American Medical Association, the National Medical Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American College of Physicians, the American Academy of Pediatrics, many other organizations, hospitals, university health systems, and health advocacy groups.
The statement noted that “Climate change is one of the greatest threats to health America has ever faced”, that we need a “just transition to clean, safe renewable energy”, that “Action to reduce climate change can dramatically improve health, and that “Equity must be central to climate action.”
