GE to close natural gas power plant because it’s too expensive

This was announced last June, but it is still good news we all need to know.
General Electric plans to close a natural gas fired power plant in California 20 years early. They are doing this because “it is uneconomical to support further.”
It is not their latest technology for natural gas plants, and even though they have already built and used the plant, it is less expensive to close the plant than to keep using it.

Natural gas plants release plenty of carbon into the atmosphere, and other kinds of air pollution too (nitrogen oxides which lead to ozone formation), so this is good news for everyone’s health.
