Climate Change Impacts the Most Vulnerable the Hardest

Island nations are bearing the brunt of intense hurricanes, and the hurricanes’ power is amplified by climate change. Yet these nations contribute a small fraction to the total amount of greenhouse gas emissions. Climate change is hitting the poorest and most vulnerable on the islands the hardest.

Dr. Lisa Benjamin is a Professor at Lewis and Clark Law School in Oregon. She is also from the Bahamas. “”This is a huge issue of climate justice,” Benjamin said.  “We are suffering the devastating impacts of this which are existential and we are not the cause of it.””
