Climate Action by the State of Oregon, a Model for All States

The NRDC is reporting that yesterday, Governor Brown in Oregon signed a major executive order about climate change for the state. The executive order involves many departments including Environmental Quality, Transportation, building codes, Public Utilities, says climate change should be integrated into budgets, investments, and policy decisions of every agency, and that every agency should consult with the Environmental Justice Task Force and prioritize actions that help vulnerable populations.

The executive order directs the Department of Environmental Quality to set carbon caps, has the state building codes division increase building and appliance efficiency, doubles clean fuels, has the Department of Transportation create a statewide EV charging plan, directs the Public Utilities Commission to transition to clean energy and make a wildfire safe grid, and directs all agencies to consider climate change in decisions and plans they make.

Your state could follow suit! This is a good model for many states. Some of the actions are applicable at the county level too.
