Brilliant advice in the New York Times from Emma Marris

The New York Times has a brilliant opinion piece today by Emma Marris, titled “How to Stop Freaking Out and Tackle Climate Change.”

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/10/opinion/how-to-help-climate-change.html

She describes 5 things we can do and has practical advice for each one:   1) Ditch the shame,  2) Focus on systems, not yourself,  3) Join an effective group, 4) Define your role, and 5) Know what you are fighting for, not just fighting against.

Our system is set up to make it easier to make unsustainable choices when we buy things, commute, or travel. We can make smart choices with what is there now, but we really need to change the system so we have better choices. No matter what level of global temperature rise happens, it is always worth fighting for it to be lower. And keep a picture in your mind of the realistically good world in the future that we are fighting for.

We suggest Mothers and Others for Clean Air and Southern Alliance for Clean Energy as 2 effective groups that you can join.
