My name is Sheri Arnold. I’m originally from Hawaii, but I’ve been in Georgia for 25 years. I’ve been working with DeKalb County for 18 years, as recycling coordinator for 10 years and one year as a Recycling Outreach Coordinator.
Clean air is very important because we as people need air to breath. Asthma runs in my family. Two of my sisters have asthma, and both of my children have struggled with asthma in the past. Poor air quality can cause or contribute to asthma. When trees are cut down for new development, it affects the whole ecosystem and makes the problem worse.
It’s sad that a lot of our air quality is bad. I’m hoping that someday people stop polluting and we can get it under control. This means the pollution from smokestacks and car exhaust will have to be addressed. Industries and businesses that contribute to air pollution will have to take responsibility so they don’t pollute our air.
