North Carolina is talking about its air. Across the state media outlets are reporting on the American Lung Association’s 2016 State of the Air Report and quoting Mothers & Others volunteers and staff in N.C. Alison Lawrence Jones, M&O’s project manager for North Carolina, was quoted in a report by Charlotte’s Fox affiliate on Mecklenburg County’s “F in ozone, A in particle pollution.” Her letter to the editor referencing the State of the Air report and calling on the governor to put forth action similar to the EPA’s Clean Power Plan, was published in Chapel Hill’s The Daily Tar Heel. The Winston-Salem Journal published an article about Forsyth County’s failing grade for ozone pollution,. Raleigh’s ABC affiliate ran a story about the Triangle’s poor grade as well, and Time Warner Cable news discussed the improvement of air quality seen in a number of areas across the state. Lastly, the Greensboro News & Record reported on the Piedmont Triad’s air quality improvements and the ongoing risks from ozone pollution.
