This is a good editorial by our partner, the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy.
Energy Efficiency is one of the quickest, most common-sense ways to reduce energy use. Reducing energy use means less air pollution, less greenhouse gases released into the air, and saves us money. It’s a win-win-win situation all around.
Energy Efficiency is: replacing outdated appliances, adding insulation, changing lightbulbs to LED, caulking and sealing windows and doors, etc. It is simple, and can be done relatively quickly.
Energy efficiency supports over 2 million jobs locally, that can’t be outsourced. It saves money for consumers and businesses, builds the local economy, reduces carbon and air pollution, and helps address energy burden disparities. (And remember, reducing air pollution saves lives and healthcare costs.)
The U.S. could meet 40% of its Paris agreement climate goals, just with energy efficiency.
We can take action on energy efficiency at many levels: as individuals, with local, state or federal policies, or as businesses. We all have a part to work on. #ActOnClimate
