Air Pollution Linked to Miscarriages

A study conducted in Beijing found an increased risk of missed miscarriage, linked to several kinds of air pollution. (A missed miscarriage is when the fetus dies but there is no bleeding or contractions, the woman still thinks she is pregnant for a few more weeks). The higher risk was linked to particulates, sulfur dioxide, ozone, and carbon monoxide. The higher risk was strongest for particulates and sulfur dioxide.
The study adds to the growing body of evidence about how harmful air pollution is for pregnant women.
